Phone Mast on Queens Drive
An application has been recieved to install a 15m high slimline phone mast on Queens Drive containing 3 pole aerials and a transmitting dish along with an equipment cabinet.
The siteing of the mast is between the two carraigeways a few metres beyond the traffic lights at New College, towards Whitbourne Avenue.
Councillor Peter Mallinson has asked for the application to be called in for consideration by the planning committee and for it not to be decided by planning officers.
The application number is S/TC/06/3133/HD, this number should be quoted when speaking to the planning department.
Cllr Peter Mallinson said, "The mast will be very close to the new houses and flats built at the New College site. Some of these properties ( the flats) are built on three levels and are too close to the 15m mast. It is not something I would feel safe with if I lived on the top floor of the flats nor so close to the mast. I am therefore asking for full consultation with residents in the area before any decisions are made."
